Features Apart from featuring the standard save/load system to store a player's Experience Points across games, NOTD Aftermath features Close Air Support, Landing Zones, Tinnitus effects, Objective Oriented Experience, accurate military terminology and slang for many equipment, procedures and orders, a third-person camera mode, and a medal system based on meritorious and consistent performance. In order to improve efficiency, the game was coded with extensive use of native JASS functions instead of the layer of functions that are used in the Graphic User Interface(GUI). NOTD Aftermath was awarded the Spotlight Map status by Blizzard Entertainment on 26 May 2006. In-depth information on our features: Inside NOTD Aftermath Gameplay Since NOTD Aftermath is a custom map, some of the game concepts are very different from the original Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or The Frozen Throne. The players take on the role of Marines of Echo Company, United States Marine Corps. The player's Marines will gain experience over the course of combat, allowing the player to learn new abilities or improve upon their existing ones. ![]() Unlike most Warcraft III custom games, players do not share vision with each other. Players rely on minimap pings, audio and text communication in order to organize and carry out tactics. Throughout the game, players find themselves using basic military tactics such as bounding overwatch in order to maneuver through thick forests and heavily occupied areas. Game Background 27th September 2037 - A mysterious viral outbreak in Boston four days before led the city to shut down and the entire state of Massachusetts to be placed under quarantine. Many early Marine Corps elements sent to facilitate the evacuation of the city were wiped out. In the 36 hours prior the events of NOTD Aftermath, the US Military has been gaining an upperhand and the outbreak is steadily brought under control. With state borders secured, Marine Expeditionary Units begin patrolling the outlying towns for contamination. Events take a fateful turn when Echo Company finds itself in the middle of the heaviest concentration of unknown entities. NOTD Aftermath Information There are a total of eleven player selectable classes: Rifleman, Combat Engineer, Flamethrower, Machine Gunner (Pfc.), Navy Corpsman (Pfc.), Designated Marksman (Pfc.), Force Recon (Sgt.), Infantry Unit Leader (SSgt.), Forward Observer (GySgt.), Assaultman (2nd Lt.), Delta Operator (Capt.). These classes become gradually available to players as they progress in ranks, allowing them to build solid fundamentals before using more specialized Military Occupational Specialties. Every Marine is first and foremost a Rifleman. Throughout the course of the game, players are also granted the use of friendly Non-player character Marines. In practice, the Grunt and Marksman classes are frowned upon for use in public games. This is a result of the frequency of team killings (TKs) which occur due to accidents and misunderstanding of the abilities by the new players who use them. Chapters NOTD Aftermath is seperated into 3 Chapters, which contain a series of objectives and themes. Some chapters have alternate scenarios that add replayability and variation to the game. Each Chapter lasts an average of twenty-five minutes and a complete game generally lasts one hour and twenty minutes. The newly introduced -sm mode can cut game length to fifty-five minutes. Objectives The primary objective in the game is survival. Some waves will have optional quests that benefit your squad upon completion. Survival depends greatly on teamwork and personal skills alike. The difficulty of the game scales with various factors such as player rank, total players alive, total starting players, hits taken thus far, kill efficiency, combat responsiveness, and ailments taken. Completion of objectives grant all Players in the game Experience Points. Some objectives are open ended, which others require specific steps in order to complete successfully. Download NOTD Aftermath now. The game requires Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne in order to run. |
