Army Style vs. Camping

Army Style vs. Camping
Army Style and Camping represent the two dominant tactics used in NOTD Aftermath. Army style is about constant maneuver without fixed positions while Camping emphasizes a strong static defense location usually on a hill with ample field of vision. |

There are two schools of thought on playing NOTD Aftermath. The first is a strategy of static defense, known as 'camping', where the squad usually establishes a defensive perimeter around a hilltop or location with eminent visibility. The second believes that Aftermath is best played by constant maneuvering, inappropriately coined as 'army style' by some players. Both methods of gameplay have their own appeals, but static defense remains the prevailent strategy in public games. 'Army style' strategy requires that most players have a working knowledge of the game and basic strategies in order to execute effectively.
In practice, most games contain elements of both strategies used in varying degrees. The game revolves around the basic principles of suppressive fire, scarce supplies and establishing a good field of vision. The latter principle may be of lesser importance if the squad pursues a dynamic defense strategy. Individuals are most vulnerable when reloading and surrounded. Squad members, usually those in a forward position, provide suppressive fire in order to neutralize active threats while others reload and move. Having the right equipment and adequate supplies are essential for long-term survival of the squad. The most immediate concerns are ammunition and medical supplies, followed by weapons and utility tools such as Detonation Cords, Ground Illumination Flares and explosive charges.
