Hey. It's been several months, possibly even a year since I last came around here. I sort of randomly left WC3 and never came back.

It's safe to say that NOTDA was literally the best WC3 map I've ever seen and experienced. I had never seen such great usage of things that were capable on custom maps. I was equally impressed by the 'professionalism' of the map. It was extremely polished and had something for those rather hardcore players.

I am left wondering though, after playing the SC2 beta and seeing some of the custom maps people have made....Are there plans for NOTDA to move on over to SC2? This is basically a wishful dream, but from what I've read around here, it seems unlikely.

I tried tinkering around with the beta's editor and while I can say it looks to be incredible (even though it's beta editor, I can tell it can do a lot of things previous editors could not do), while maintaining the same feel as previous editors, it's also rather complicated, at least for me. My head simply explodes from trying to do simple things in the other editors, so it was not much different when I tried using SC2's editor.

So while I'd love to offer help, it just seems I'm not capable of using the editor. But I have to mention it is already extremely powerful right now, and it's only a beta editor. I've already seen impressive 3rd person and 1st person shooters, as well as top-down shooters, arcade games, tug of wars, etc. Everything that makes custom maps so fun.

At any rate, how have things been going on at NOTDA? I noticed the big site overhaul, but overall it feels like the community has gotten even smaller than last time I was around. I kind of miss the old days of me helping out organize games and having a blast with everyone, but I don't think I'll be coming back to WC3.

I only recognize a few familiar faces too, so that's a bummer.

Also, what happened to my guides? Obviously they were deleted with the site overhaul, but did anyone save them or anything? I'd just like to see if it was changed or to reflect on my writing.

Hello. I don't know anything about the SC2 map editor either but maybe I can shed some light on what has been happening the last few months. A while back there were a few attempts to try and fix some of the fatal errors that a new WC3 patch had introduced. There were two or three groups I think, one of them was TheOnlyAce, who released a new version of the map 1.5d which is up to beta 8 now, and some new guy who showed up named k something or other, and some people are working on another version now. Most people were/are playing TheOnlyAce's version (from my experience), as the other dude had changed the layout of the map and reset all xp and some other stuff people didn't like. Sometimes people still play 1.5c.

That's what was going on with the actual map. The community was dong the usual stuff for a while there after everyone figured out which map they were going to use. The site went down a while back for a week or so during the upgrade, deleting everyone's posts and accounts, and I think drove a bunch of people away from the forums. There are supposedly still 2 or 3 clans per server, but I haven't seen many games being hosted recently.

As for your guides and such, sleepingferret, who is king of the website I beleive, posted this (http://www.notd-aftermath.com/showthread.php?4-Website-Forum-Maintenance-and-Development) during the upgrade process.

While I will be preserving as much "essential" data from the old site as deemed necessary and needed. I will not be importing data from the forums.

So if you're the guy who wrote the guides that got on the frontpage then they may be saved, otherwise I think they are probably gone. You should probably PM him and see what's up since that post was quite a while ago and I don't really see anything from the old site up.

Games still going on at a reasonable rate on notd-host (Europe/USEast/USWest). Depends on time a bit.

Since i saw no information of the old forum over here from the beginning of the new one (changelog's posted on my request being the only exception) i think they are lost.
Clan Sad has their own forum, that is why many notd'ers are lurking around there.
Some people saw it as their task to supply the community with new guides (of varying quality though).

Yikes. That really sucks because I seriously enjoyed NOTDA and would love to see it come into SC2, considering it would be a better fit due to the sci-fi nature. Plus the more powerful editor and the many different things you can do.

I'm saddened that the community has grown even smaller with activity looking relatively dead. Also I'm pretty sure those guides are gone, they were forum guides. I had a gigantic beginner's guide that was never finished as well.

Good to see you guys again, Psycho and Wedge. We had some good games back then, and I still never encountered Lost Cause haha. I remember when I tried getting some new members by creating newbie training sessions. Apparently everyone thought I was crazy since it required so much patience. I had some hilariously horrible training sessions. Good times.

Other than that, are there is no plans to create a new NOTDA on SC2 correct? Damn...I'll miss NOTDA. I have a feeling it'll be the same stuff all over again - someone creates an amazing but unpopular map, but the games list gets monopolize by a popular, relatively simple map. It happens with real games, and it happens in the mod community. Blargh...

Still, it's incredible you guys are still sticking around.

but recently, since the new imserba is deployed/developed, so many weird things happen. especially deleting someones hardworks in making the themes.. without even notifying the posters first.. how do u feel if u were in their positions??

Saki_Sakurai is working on her own Notd Version for SC2. Not really a continue of Notd: Am, though as she plans to introcude various new features (heroes e.g). Future will show how the map will be like.

@ Yurdle

I still can remember your guide for crits. I have internalized that knowledge and passed it on a many times. Maybe that cheers you a bit up.

@ moestrobertoluchy

What do you mean?
