It could be better to have more ranks between 0 and 399 messages. After all, 10 or 150 messages shows a difference in the activity on the forum=)

Sounds good. Hahah 80k posts? That would just be spam.

Also shows a difference in someone just logging on to bitch or spam about bullshit. If someone is actually "active" in a community they'll break 200+ posts easily. Long time members, depending on posting reason and what discussions they choose to participate in will end up breaking higher caps.

So now we're getting ranked for how much we post? x.x

Not really. Like I said, I don't care how much someone posts as long as it is for a "valid" reason. Valid being a very loose term, meaning in this case...as long as you aren't wasting my time or anyone else's time by comparing e-peens, starting flame wars, or just stirring up trouble intentionally; within certain reason I could honestly careless about what you decide to post about. Now obviously, people start posting about illegal topics (how to make bombs, terrorist threats, etc), that I will put an IMMEDIATE stop to and report to proper authorities or if anyone were to post outright slanderous nonsense, then said nonsense would be deleted and investigated. With punishment for such slander ranging from temporary suspension of forum rights to outright permanent ban.

Man, the forums are a tad different now. I remember Az's reasoning for not wanting more postcount-based titles being because A) they encourage spamming, and B) most real-life soldiers don't ever get above Cpl.

1) Any spamming, will result in at the very least posts/threads being deleted. If not for continued offenses, temporary or permanent bans depending on type of spam, consistency of offense, etc.
2) Post count based titles are easier manage, and perhaps at the time Az had more time to actively camp the forum and give out titles as she saw fit according to her rules then. Quite frankly, I don't have time to camp a forum and give out user titles on a timely manner and go through the entire forum all the time to create a similar rule set on which to base user titles on in the first place. As if memory serves correctly hers were more based on community participation (so in a way it was a post count thing, just it didn't matter if you had 50 or 10,000) by the time of your first "promotion" as there were other defining characteristics that said promotion were based upon.
3) While yes I've ran into mostly enlisted soldiers in my life time E-1s & E-2s, my uncle is a retired CWO-2 of the US Navy, and I have two SSgt friends in the US Arny. So while it is a manner of percentages that says most don't get promoted above Cpl, the truth of the matter is many (especially this day and age), don't stay in that long and thus don't have the time to pursue paths that may lead to promotion. Many today enlist put their minimum time in get their college paid for and go about their lives, which is fine. The way of the career military man or woman has long started to go by the wayside.

Long time member but lurking. So i doubt i will break the 200 post mark =P

The only reason I'll probably break that mark is cause I'm the new board administrator and will be replying a lot to things I normally wouldn't have. But otherwise I think my old post count after being a community member when Az herself was still active and around, my old count I think barely cleared 200. :p

.... wow. post 40,000 posts. I'd be shocked if you did that in 1 day, but i doubt you could do it  (fingers hurt)

40k posts is easy, Admin panel > user > posts count > 40 000

Are posting titles even necessary? It seems like a failed system where it encourages a large number of useless posts; as opposed to a fewer number of more quality posts.
